On May 26, 2017, Lancang Jingmai Airport officially opened navigation which is the 15th airport invested by Yunnan Province. Therefore, Pu’er City becomes the fourth city in Yunnan that has two airports after Lijiang, Baoshan and Lincang.

Due to their complex road conditions, Lancang, Menglian and Ximeng counties mainly rely on road systems to communicate with other places. And it takes no less than 4 to 6 hours by car from these counties to reach to Pu’er Simao Airport (179km, 235km and 268km, respectively), but it is going to be different and save a lot of time on traveling ever since the Lancang Jingmai Airport opens navigation. 

During the first period, China Eastern Yunnan Branch will be responsible for the flights in Lancang Airport. The flight will fly from Kunming Changshui Airport to Lancang Jingmai Airport four times per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday), and the flying time is 50 minutes. In the future, this air route would fly to the east, the north and the central part of China through Kunming. Hopefully this would promote unique traveling routes from Pu’er to Xishuangbanna or from Lincang to Pu’er. 

Meanwhile, Pu’er City introduces a series of preferential policies regarding discount on living, eating and scenic spots’ entry tickets.
